Easy Prey: Help Stop the Deaths of 47,300 African Americans a Year!
The African American Tobacco ControL Leadership Council (AATCLC) presented at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People National Convention. These presentation slides highlight the impact of tobacco in the African American community and show how the tobacco industry has worked to manipulate leadership for profit. The presentation concludes with a call to action for community leaders to prioritize tobacco control as a social justice issue.

The Times They are Changing… And the People Said Amen!
This article discusses the tobacco industry’s historic relationship with African American leadership and the slow change that has resulted from African American community members urging leadership groups to distance themselves from the industryl. While there have been some positive changes, the industry continues to target the African American community through their advertising, promotion, and pricing strategies for menthol cigarettes. The article provides some examples of how everyday people can help create positive change in their communities.
